Take advantage of your membership ladies and enter this year’s Best of WCA show. Your work could be displayed at ARC Chicago during the 2014 national conference and be included within an 18-month calendar!

The Women’s Caucus for Art announces a national call, open to WCA members only, for the second WCA Best of 2014 exhibition, portraying the best art that members of the Women’s Caucus for Art has to offer. Through this exhibition the WCA can present a collection of contemporary art and showcase the talent of women in the arts, while promoting our membership. Subject matter for the submitted art is unlimited, submit work that resonates with you! All art submitted must have been created in the last 10 years, after January 1, 2003 and not been included in The ‘2012 Best of WCA’ exhibition.

This call is open to all Women’s Caucus for Art members in good standing ONLY. We are seeking submissions of all types of artwork and genres: paintings, drawings, photographs, installations, sculpture, films, performance, etc. Work that is selected will be shown at Chicago ARC Gallery, February 5 to March 1, 2014.

From the accepted artwork, 18 pieces will be selected for an 18-month print calendar. WCA will print a minimum of 250 editions (the calendar will run from September 2014 to December 2015). Work for the calendar will be selected based upon image quality and ability for the art to translate well into print. Visually dynamic film stills and photographs of performances will be considered for the calendar also along with images of submitted art. The 18 artists whose work is accepted for the calendar will receive a free copy of the WCA Best of 2014 Calendar.

Each member may submit up to 3 images of art per entry with 3 entries (equaling 9 works total). They may be of three different pieces or 3 different images of the same piece of art.

Open to all WCA members in good standing.

Artists may submit up to three works per entry with three separate entries. All media is accepted except giclees of original work.

Work may not exceed 50 inches wide and installations may not exceed 6 square feet. Provide dimension of each piece as follows: Height x Width x Depth, example 16 x 20 x 3 inches. If your work is framed, please include the framed size.

Enter in .mov or mp4 format up to 200 mb. Video artists, if accepted must supply ALL their own equipment.

Payment of $35 per entry for WCA members through PayPal for 3 images. You may can submit up to three separate entries for $35 for each 3 images (which means with 3 entries you can submit a total of 9 images).

Must complete submission by Friday, October 18th, 2013 at 11:59 PM in your time zone.

A 40% commission will go to the WCA and 60% will to go the artist. All works sold must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

SHIPPED work should arrive at ARC Gallery Wednesday, Jan 29 to Saturday, February 1st when the gallery is open (noon to 6:00 p.m.)
Shipped works will be boxed and returned on Monday, March 3, 2014. Hand delivered works must be picked up from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 only.

All exhibited works must be self-insured by the artist during shipping or delivery. The Gallery carries only fire and liability insurance and cannot be liable for any theft or damage to works of art. All exhibited works must be self-insured by the artist.

By submitting this application the Artist confirms they read and agree to the conditions set forth in this prospectus for WCA Best of 2014. Permission is granted to WCA and the ARC Gallery to use images of artwork accepted into the exhibition for publicity purposes. One or more artworks may be chosen for the cover design of invitation for the exhibition. They also may be featured on Artists agree to allow reproduction of their digital files and/or photographs taken of their art for educational, publicity, and archival purposes. Artists agree to allow reproduction of their digital files for the WCA Best of 2014 18-month calendar, which will be sold by WCA as a fundraiser. The Artist hereby releases and discharges representatives, employees and volunteers of National Women’s Caucus for Art and the ARC Gallery from any and all claims occasioned by loss or damages of said work while in the possession of the ARC Gallery.


WCA was founded in 1972 in connection with the College Art Association (CAA). WCA is a national member organization unique in its multidisciplinary, multicultural membership of artists, art historians, students, educators, and museum professionals.

The mission of WCA is to create community through art, education and social activism.
